76 Portland Place London boosts Conference Centres of Excellence to 40 member milestone

76 Portland Place, the elegant conference venue in the heart of London’s West End, has become the latest member of Conference Centres of Excellence, the UK's leading consortium of specialist meetings providers. It becomes the 40th leading venue to join the group.

76 Portland Place provides contemporary conference and event facilities with state of the art technology in an attractive and distinctive building, which is also the home of the Institute of Physics. Its versatile array of two lecture theatres and ten further meeting rooms, some incorporating original Georgian features, have established the venue as a popular location for board meetings, conferences, corporate parties, training, private dining and evening receptions.

“Becoming a member of Conference Centres of Excellence aligns us with the top tier of specialist venues,” commented Jenny Hullock, venue manager of 76 Portland Place: “It demands the highest standards of facility and support services, and we take great pride in achieving those levels.”

Over the past two years, Conference Centres of Excellence has made a strategic effort to widen membership to help to reflect new patterns of customer demand. 76 Portland Place is a further example of the consortium increasing its representation in city centres. “Many of our customers want reduced travel costs and therefore venues close to public transport links, so our enhanced presence in city centres is essential,” explained executive director Anthony Lishman: “We now offer organisers an even wider choice of residential and non-residential venues, in an exceptional range of rural and urban locations.”

While reaching 40 members is a milestone for the consortium, it has not been achieved at the cost of quality. “We will always resist the temptation to accept venues that do not offer the very highest all round standards,” added Anthony Lishman: “76 Portland Place is a superb venue and in every way it reinforces our key propositions of quality and focused support.”

CCE provides a free, venue-finding service for corporate clients and agencies, providing single-source guidance on facilities, availability and price for each member venue; it also arranges visits.

Its Hotline service can be contacted on 0845 230 1414, email info@cceonline.co.uk . The consortium’s website www.cceonline.co.uk includes extensive information on all members.
